The March 20, 2026 inquest supplied some of the clearest evidence about the relationship between Hatton and Dooley after their separation.
ITV reported that Dooley described Hatton as a hands-on father who doted on Millie and Fearne. Despite the couple separating in 2016, she said the family continued spending time together. Hatton had taken his daughters and granddaughter to dinner on September 12, 2025, two days before his body was discovered.
The inquest also clarified a point that had attracted considerable speculation after Hatton’s death. Senior coroner Alison Mutch concluded that she could not be satisfied that Hatton had intended to end his life.
